It is advisable to apply more amount of fertilizer often (like once in two weeks) for young trees, and continue lowering the amount and rate of recurrence as the tree ages.
So as to bestow suitable bonsai tree care, on no account over-fertilize. Excess fertilizer results in burning of roots and leaves. Burned roots are not capable of absorbing water from the soil and passing it on to the various parts of the bonsai tree. On account of over-fertilizing, keep to water the plant until the water pours outside the drain hole and allow it to drain. Then re-water it. This process is termed leaching ... assists to do away with surplus fertilizers.
Points to remember: - For all times water the bonsai tree prior to adding the fertilizer. - Try to utilize a water soluble fertilizer. - By no means fertilize a sick plant until it has become well again. - Although if its a growth season, dont add fertilizer to a sleeping outdoor bonsai till it shows signs of development. In case it is inside, you can provide fertilizer less frequently, like once in a month.
