You can do hundreds of sit ups a day to try and get rid of love handles but you will not get very far. The common misconception is that you need to concentrate on the specific area to lose fat from that area. Wrong! Doing sit ups is doing nothing, so lets look at some advanced exercises that will help you get rid of your love handles.

You can do hundreds of sit ups a day to try and get rid of love handles but you will not get very far. The common misconception is that you need to concentrate on the specific area to lose fat from that area. Wrong! Doing sit ups is doing nothing, so lets look at some advanced exercises that will help you get rid of your love handles.
These advanced exercises concentrate more on your whole body. Using more muscles in one exercise will burn off more fat. Free weights are great for this as they help to speed up your metabolism and define your stomach muscles.
These exercises can not be done at home, but here are three examples of advanced exercises to help get rid of your love handles.
Squats - These are great big whole body exercises, using major muscles in the body. This will burn off more fat per rep than hundreds of sit ups would do. If you are not sure on how to do squats, then keep your feet shoulder width apart with your feet facing slightly outwards. Bend from your knees and hips, keeping your back straight as possible, stick your bum out, then push through your heels to stand up again. Once you have mastered the technique then you can add weights to your routine.
Decline sit up with weight- This exercise is just a more advanced version of the sit up, but a lot more affective. In your gym there should be a declined sit up bench and some weights. To start off with you may wish to not use the weight and just get used to doing decline sit ups. Once you start to find this easy, add some weights to the exercise.
Dead lifts - These are quite difficult to get the hang of, as you are putting a lot of pressure on your back. Please seek advice before doing this exercise. They are primarily for back muscles but are great for burning off the fat as they use all the muscles in the body.
What is great about free weight exercises, is that they have no limits as you can always add more weights to challenge yourself more. The stronger you get, the quicker your love handles will disappear.
Free weights firing up your metabolism and are the most effective exercise when it comes to burning fat. Your love handles will be reduced in no time at all.
