Passing the IELTS is very important to many people as it means being able to enter into American universities and colleges, as well as being able to work in various other countries that have English as their first language. Long periods of preparation are required before taking this test. This could be anywhere between 50 to 100 hours of preparation. There are six basic components of this test.

Taking an IELTS practice test will help you determine if you are ready to take the real thing. It will help you calm your nerves for when you take the IELTS.
There are many resources available for this type of preparation. There are many different training materials for each section of the IELTS test. In most cases you can take the practice IELTS test in your own home. Some of these resources are free but others may require a small fee in order to gain access to the practice material.
You'll be able to gain access to live video tutorials, various writing material, various recorded materials, as well as entire practice exams that will be graded by professionals. These professionals will be able to give you tips and advice you need without biased. Once you know some of the things you need work on you'll be able to concentrate in those areas instead of studying parts of the test you may already be proficient enough in.
You can find out which parts of the test you are strong and which parts you are weak. You can then focus your energy on your weaknesses. You may find that your listening is good but your speaking needs work or that your academic writing is in need of work. Either way sitting down with an IELTS practice test will help you before you take the real IELTS.
As mention earlier, some sites are free while others require a fee. The ones that require a fee are usually the ones that give you professional feedback from real professionals.
