There is no shortage of advertising for menswear. After examining all the media and advertising available on current styles, individuals must also consider their own needs based on such things as budget, body size, and occasion.

Color should be the first thing you look at when buying a suit. Think about the purpose of your suit: is it for social gatherings or business? A good example is the pinstripe suit. This is great for work or more formal occasions, but it has no place at an informal gathering.

First and foremost you have to decide what style of suit you wish to wear, and this decision is made simple by the type of function you are attending. Double breasted suits are no longer under the sole ownership of older business folk. They are now worn more and more often informally.

The old concept of having a tailor make a suit specifically for you has largely been replaced by some version of off the rack styling because of the significant difference in price between a custom-made and off the rack suits. However, expert tailoring is offered at many suit shops so that buyers can tailor the suit to their own measurements.

Many different materials can be chosen for your suit. However, we advice that you go with a nice wool fabric.

Socially, dress etiquette is not as rigid. One can almost push the bounds of good taste at certain events as everybody present will simply think of you as dressing individually. The trick is to ensure you choose the correct attire for the correct event and don't try and dress so outrageously if inappropriate.

The decision as to what shirt and tie to wear with your suit should always consider the fact that at some point while you are wearing your suit you are likely to want to take off your jacket. Make sure your shirt is clean and pressed so that it can stand alone when you take off your jacket.

Lastly, get a second opinion. Your partner or wife would be a good place to go for an honest opinion. But make sure you listen to them. It is one thing to be comfortable but you want to look good as well. If you have to convince yourself it is right, it probably isn't.
